According to Article 51, Clause 1 of the Vietnamese Law on Marriage and Family 2014: A husband, wife, or both have the right to request the court to resolve a divorce.

- All parties involved are Vietnamese citizens, agencies, or organizations, but the establishment, modification, execution, or termination of the relationship occurs abroad;
- All parties involved are Vietnamese citizens, agencies, or organizations, but the subject of the civil relationship is located abroad.
